David began his professional career as a songwriter for Shalimar Music in 1957, under the pseudonym of David Hill. David's first recording was a quick hit, which was later performed and credited to Elvis Presley. The song: "All Shook Up."

David went on to compose "Start Movin'" for Sal Mineo, and "Rockin' Shoes" for the Ames Brothers. He continued to write songs for Elvis Presley throughout the '50s and '60s, (notable Presley hit "I Got Stung" was later covered by The Beatles) Other Hess tunes performed by The King include "Frankie and Johnny", "Come Along," "Make Me Know You're Mine" (first performed by Conway Twitty), "Sand Castles," "Blue Lagoon." "Your Hand, Your Heart, Your Love" became a 60s hit when it was performed by Andy Williams. And in 1963 David wrote and recorded "Speedy Gonzalez," which became a number one single for Pat Boone, selling more than eight million copies worldwide. David then recorded two solo albums for Kapp Records, again topping the charts, this time with a Top Ten folk hit called "Two Brothers."

Jeff Burr

Jeff Burr is one of the most underrated talents working in horror today. Beginning with his debut anthology hit "The Offspring" (which starred the late Vincent Price in one of his last films and saw appearances from such great cult names as "Toolbox Murders" star Cameron Mitchell and "Return of the Living Dead's" Clu Gulager) Burr has shown a flair for claustrophobic, relentless terror that has gone largely without appreciation. Highlights of the directors career include his excellent sequel "Stepfather 2" (1989), the visually striking "Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3" (1990) and the acclaimed indie flick "Eddie Presley" (1993). His latest film, the World War 2 set "Straight into Darkness" has garnered acclaim from Variety and other prestigious avenues and Fearless Tales is proud to have the Bay Area premiere. Mr Burr will also be in attendance to present San Francisco viewers with a unique chance to see his debut "The Offspring" in a personal 35mm print.

Jeff will take to the stage for an in depth Q and A - taking in his entire career and his newest production, "The Demons 5", starring Robert Englund.

Fearless Tales Genre Fest 2005

Submit your film now.
Fearless Tales Festival, San Francisco’s only open submission film festival devoted to fantastic genres is proud to announce our second year. Following on from the success of the first, which saw the US premiere of Tobe Hooper's "Toolbox Murders", attendance from the legendary Jack Hill and films as varied as "London Voodoo" and "Slaughterhouse of the Rising Sun" picked up for domestic distribution Fearless Tales Genre Fest is set to be San Francisco’s most exciting event of the spring.

Our second year, will be even bigger and better! We are proud to announce that the festival will open on March the 29th and run through April 3 2005. This year’s festival kicks of with a showing of the classic video nasty "The Witch Who Came From the Sea". The film will be given a brand new digital transfer and accompanied by a Q and A with the director Matt Cimber. In honor of Mr. Cimber's appearance we will also be showing his acclaimed 1983 fantasy epic "Hundra".

Tim Sullivan, the director of the upcoming "2001 Maniacs", will be in attendance alongside the film's rising star Dylan Edrington and starlet Christa Campbell. Whew! Is it getting hot in here?

"Leatherface" director Jeff Burr is also scheduled to attend with the Bay Area premiere of "Straight into Darkness" and a retrospective screening of his debut film "The Offspring".

Our biggest event, of course, is the Fearless Vision Award reception. Last year Tobe Hooper was the Inaugural recipient of this, acknowledging his influence and importance to the fantasy and horror film. Rest assured, this year we will be celebrating the work of someone very special (and who also has a beard).

More film showings, and guests, will be announced over the coming months. Submissions deadline for competitive entries is January 3, 2005. Learn more at www.fearlesstales.com.

Film Arts Foundation also returns this year as a sponsor of Fearless Tales Genre Fest 2005.

Suffice to say that this little taster is designed to quench some of your initial anticipation... and keep you thirsty for more. Keep coming back to FearlessTales.com for the latest news on Fearless Tales Genre Fest 2005.
