HOOPER TEAMS WITH “MANIACS” SCRIBES

HOOPER TEAMS WITH “MANIACS” SCRIBES FOR UNTITLED NIGHTMARE

Los Angeles (January 5, 2005) –Tobe Hooper, creator of the original 1974 “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, has pegged “2001 Maniacs” scribes Chris Kobin and Tim Sullivan to pen the third release of his “TH Nightmares” horror franchise.

Hooper and producing partner Alan Somers, both currently shooting “Mortuary” with the thriller “Marked” immediately following, jointly picked Kobin and Sullivan after reading the duo’s remake of the 1967 cult favorite “She Freak”.

“Tim and Chris are two of the best guys around today doing horror,” voiced Hooper. “These dudes know how to explore the dark side in a fun way, how to play with smoke and mirrors. They truly understand the alchemy of this house-of-cards genre. Audiences are in for a great thrill ride with ‘2001 Maniacs’”.

Said Sullivan, who also helmed “Maniacs”, “Working with Tobe is the dream of any genuine fan of the genre. This is the guy who practically invented the modern horror film. His recent work is gutsier than ever, and I am thrilled to be adding to the Hooper pantheon.”

Though the actual title and storyline remains under tight wraps, Kobin did reveal, “the film will echo back to early Hooper output, in the same vein as “Poltergeist”, dealing with primordial fears and archetypes. Basically the stuff that scared us as kids and continues to scare as adults.”

Per Somers, Hooper’s untitled Kobin-Sullivan “Nightmare” will shoot this year.
