David Hess at Fearless Tales

Fearless Tales Festival could not be happier to announce a late addition to the festival. Cult horror film icon David Hess will be in attendance for the double bill of his two latest films on Wednesday March 30th at the Victoria Theatre. Hess stars in Zombie Nation and The Zodiac Killer, both directed by Ulli Lommel, most famous as the filmmaker behind The Tenderness of the Wolves (1973), The Boogeyman (1980) and Brainwaves (1983). Mr. Hess will join Mr. Lommel on stage for a Question and Answer session, and also plans to attend Thursday evening’s “Fearless Vision Party”.

David Hess will, of course, be best known to horror film fans as Krug Stillo in Wes Craven’s controversial classic The Last House on the Left (1972). So effective was Hess’ leading role in this terror hit that he would later reprise his villainous turn in such films as Hitch Hike (1977 – in which he starred opposite Franco Nero) and Ruggero Deodato’s House on the Edge of the Park (1980). Hess would reunite with Craven on 1982’s comic book adaptation Swamp Thing, and work with Deodato (most famous for creating the notorious Cannibal Holocaust) again on 1987’s backwoods slasher Body Count and the director’s 1989 television series Oceano. Hess also directed the Christmas-set stalker film To All a Goodnight in 1980.

A talented musician, Hess has also penned songs for no less than Elvis Presley, and scored the soundtrack to Last House on the Left. He was also the composer for Eli Roth’s smash hit Cabin Fever in 2003.
